Since Ben Johnson has taken over the title of Chicago Bears head coach, he has brought a certain attitude and approach to the job as he expects his team to be when they hit the field.

Starting in training camp, it has been about cleaning up the mistakes with pre-snap penalties and being more discipline on the field. It's something that while wide receiver Rome Odunze has been good at himself, Johnson still goes after them about while at practice.

"For sure, we definitely see that," Odunze said via Marquee Sports Network. "It's hard for me to give you a specific example. It was my first day out there. We didn't have any pre-snaps today. The consequences may be harsher (in practice), but that’s what we need to understand. The consequences are harsher when we get to the game, and that proved itself to be true last week.”

Bears fans want to see more accountability out of the team

There's been talk about accountability and being discipline all season and even as far back as training camp, but Bears fans haven't quite seen too much of the discipline part on the field. The Bears are tied for fifth in the NFL in penalties counted against them with 65 and fourth in penalty yards against them with 533.

This has been a common problem since the first day of training camp with pre-snap penalties and mental mistakes that has carried over into the regular season. It was something fans had hoped would go away, but the Bears continue to make multiple mistakes.

The accountability aspect is starting to come into play, as Johnson was not shy about calling out his leaders after the Bears suffered a 30-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8. Fans hope that maybe that loss to a backup quarterback was the wake-up call they needed to get back on track.

Chicago's season isn't in shambles as they sit with a 4-3 record and a chance to get back to two games over .500 with a win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 9. It will take a mentally strong team, though, to get it done.
