Russell Wilson has many qualities. Humility doesn't seem to be one of them. The Super Bowl-winning quarterback has taken to a media career since retiring from the NFL, and he's already firing off takes about Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams.
During a recent appearance at the "NFL on CBS" media day, the new CBS Sports analyst compared Williams to ... himself.
Wilson said, "Watching the film, watching Caleb Williams and how talented he is and how he moves, he kinda reminds me of me when I was young and all that -- his ability to make plays, his ability to throw on the run, his ability to throw accurately on the move, how he spins out of the pocket. I think he's got some crazy talent to him."
Bears fans wouldn't complain about a Wilson-like career path for their young QB, but the comparison doesn't hold water.

Wilson had a decorated career, winning a Super Bowl, earning nine Pro Bowl appearances, and being named a second-team All-Pro quarterback in 2019. While he never quite reached the peak of the NFL quarterback hierarchy, he has a realistic shot at a place in the Hall of Fame.
If Bears fans could guarantee that kind of trajectory for Williams, most would take the deal in a heartbeat. But the two players aren't as similar as Wilson suggested.
Wilson was an elite competitor, but he was physically limited in a way that Williams isn't. He was undersized, had a strong arm that was specific in its deployment, and relied heavily on his rushing ability early in his career.
Williams has all of the physical tools that Wilson lacked, save the rushing threat. The Bears quarterback has arm elasticity only matched by Patrick Mahomes. His effortless throwing motion allows him to access any area of the field from any platform.
Like early-career Wilson, he can extend plays with his legs, but he doesn't scramble as much as the former Seahawks quarterback did.
There's a reason that Williams was drafted at No. 1 overall and Wilson fell to the third round. The physical profiles just don't line up.

That's exactly why Williams could reach levels that Wilson never managed to. The Chicago quarterback has unlimited potential and finds himself in an ideal situation, surrounded by Ben Johnson and a talented group of pass catchers. Bears fans want more for their young star.
