The season might be officially over, but the Chicago Bears' offseason is about to be in full swing. At this year's NFL Combine, we may learn quite a bit about what the Bears plan to do in the coming weeks.
With free agency coming up in just a couple of weeks and the 2026 NFL Draft around the corner, general managers, coaches, and executives have gathered at this year's combine and are ready to provide us with all the juicy rumors and whispers we could desire.
Ryan Poles spoke on a few different occasions already, and in an interview with NFL Network's Gregg Rosenthal, he was asked how he felt about veteran running back D'Andre Swift and his future with the Bears.
"Yeah I do feel good about it.
"We'll get through this next two weeks, see what different opportunities kind of pop up ... it's always difficult. There's a lot of unknowns ... but I feel good about Swifty and where he's at."
It appears the Chicago Bears will keep running back D'Andre Swift barring any unforeseen circumstances
Before the 2026 season, a lot of fans spent hours dreaming of what Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love would look like in a Bears uniform. But that was before Chicago played their way far out of a top-10 pick.
Personally, I believe this would be the only scenario in which the Bears would move on from Swift if the opportunity to land Love became real.
That opportunity would have to include Love falling out of the top 12-15 picks, though, and that doesn't seem likely at all.
The Bears' running back room looks strong, as it stands, in terms of the two guys who will be featured the most in Swift and Kyle Monangai. Fortunately, the Bears don't have to prioritize the running back position in this year's draft -- a class that, outside of Love, isn't exactly beaming with talent.
It would make sense that Poles feels good about Swift, too, after he put up a career year last season in Chicago. Between Ben Johnson and the impact of former Bears running backs coach Eric Bieniemy, Swift really turned a corner.
Fans saw him become more of a physical runner between the tackles, which was arguably the most impressive and surprising twist of his 2025 campaign.

All in all, the Bears' rushing attack was one of the best in the league behind Swift and Monangai. It would make perfect sense for Poles to check that position off his to-do list outside of adding a third back for depth with Travis Homer and Roschon Johnson unlikely to return.
