Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles has been relatively quiet when it comes to making trades or signing big-name free agents since offseason workouts began. One player might pull him back to the phone to make a call to the Houston Texans.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter suggested a name to watch out for during Tuesday's roster cutdowns, with trades looking to be made. One name to monitor is Houston Texans left tackle Cam Robinson. Schefter believes Texans rookie Aireontae Ersery has played well enough to earn the starting job.

Robinson has been a long time left tackle since being selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He has started 101 games as he spent last season with the Jaguars and then to the Minnesota Vikings midway through the season.

Would Robinson be the short term solution at left tackle for Chicago?

Nobody was overly excited about the play at left tackle during the preseason in Chicago. Throughout training camp, there was a battle between Braxton Jones, rookie Ozzy Trapilo, and Theo Benedet.

Jones looks poised to be the starter, but he has had some rough moments in games. Trapilo was the Bears fans' hope to win the job, but he isn't ready to take the reins and has been moved to being a backup swing tackle. Benedet is an intriguing prospect to start, but he got into the race too late to win the job.

Not even Bears head coach Ben Johnson has been enthusiastic about the left tackle position during camp. He has previously said that he and the coaching staff will be taking the position week by week and could change at any time.

A move for Robinson would not be overly expensive, as it would most likely be a fifth-round pick at the most for his services. That would also open up a potential Jones trade elsewhere, as ESPN suggested on Monday, to the Los Angeles Rams.

Poles would be wise to at least pick up the phone and help give Bears fans confidence that Robinson can hold down the left tackle job better than Jones could.
