Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles has done a masterful job over the past two offseasons building the offensive line up to where it is today.
It technically started in 2023 with the Darnell Wright selection, but really came into form last year with Joe Thuney, Jonah Jackson, and Drew Dalman being added to the roster, which helped decrease their sacks allowed and set up a top-five rushing attack. This offseason was tough, with Ozzy Trapilo injured and expected to miss the first part of the 2026 season, and Dalman retiring. The Bears resolved these issues by trading for Garrett Bradbury and drafting Logan Jones at center, as well as signing Jedrick Wills Jr. to compete with Braxton Jones and Theo Benedet at left tackle.
ESPN senior NFL writer Bill Barnwell shared that Poles' work with the offensive line this offseason was the best move the Bears made. Barnwell even added that if Poles wanted to, he could add one more piece to the puzzle.
"Are any of those options locks to deliver above-average play? No. But the Bears at least have players with experience on the left side who might still have some untapped upside given their age. And there's another option Poles could still pursue on the open market in tackle Taylor Decker, who played for Ben Johnson during their time together in Detroit. Decker would be a logical short-term stopgap if the Bears don't like what they see from their younger options in camp."
Bears' moves with the offensive line were the best of the offseason
Bradbury makes for the perfect bridge center for the 2026 season before Jones takes over in 2027 and beyond. Jones can handle the center position, but a year of learning would benefit him.
The left tackle position is a bit of a concern, but Jones has been getting a lot of buzz around him and could be poised for a big season. Jones started last season at left tackle, so it makes sense to go with him, and Benedet is a solid backup. Wills might have a tougher time making the roster since he hasn't played in two years.

Chicago has made some great moves on the offensive line as it continues to become a strength for them. Dalman's loss will be felt, but the Bears did a great job in establishing the future on the line.
