T.J. Edwards has spent a large part of the 2025 season on the sidelines because of injuries.
The Chicago Bears’ linebacker has played in just nine games this season, but the veteran understands that this team has a unique quality.
Edwards was asked during his press conference at Halas Hall if he felt the team was “flat” at any point of the season. The veteran didn’t know about that, but acknowledged that the team has started slow on offense and defense at times. He also went into detail about the 2025 Bears team.
“I think the thing with this team that’s special is no matter what's going on, I think there's a belief that we will make a play at the end of the game to win it,” Edwards said. “Even last week I think we all believe that offense is going to go down there and make a play. It's on us to learn from those things that went wrong so we don't need to make these games like that every time. I think it's just sticking together like we've been doing, and I think we've been doing a good job of it.”
This Bears team is different from past squads
That sense of belief wasn’t evident for the Bears last season. A year that featured plenty of heartbreaking losses and a 10-game losing streak at the end of the 2024 season.
Head coach Ben Johnson has instilled confidence in this current group, and that’s apparent by how the team plays despite being down in the closing minutes of games. Six four-quarter comeback wins have helped the Bears clinch the NFC North and already have 11 wins going into Week 18.
Those wins can continue to add up if all phases play their best brand of football as Edwards and the rest of the team prepare for the playoffs.

“For us, the goal since Ben got here, was playing our best ball around this time, and I still think that's the goal,” Edwards said. “We're always wanting to be critical of ourselves to figure out, what happened the previous week and what we can do to be better because all these games must win games. I think that's where our focus is, man. It's just playing our best ball, doing what we've been doing all year and sticking together in that way. Those results will come when that belief is strong.”
