When Chicago Bears fans think about the wide receiver room, Rome Oduzne and Luther Burden III are the first names that come to their minds.
Odunze and Burden have had a great summer at OTAs and training camp so far, proving that they are ready for the top two spots on the depth chart. While they are the playmakers Caleb Williams usually turns to, a surprise player popped out of nowhere at training camp who is ready to make some noise.
Several Bears reporters witnessed one of the best catches of training camp so far. The Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs shared what an unknown receiver did after Williams' pass.
"WR Kaden Davis with a sprawling one-handed catch on a corner end zone pass from Caleb Williams in 7-on-7. Terrific grab."
Kaden Davis won't be forgotten about again within Bears' offense
Davis may not be a name that most Bears fans are super familiar with, as he was just signed during the summer. He played in the United Football League this year with the Houston Gamblers, catching four passes for 32 yards and returning 10 kickoffs for 275 yards in five games.
The Bears are Davis' fifth NFL team since going undrafted in 2022. Nicknamed "White Lightning," he has played in three career games in 2024 and 2025 with the Cleveland Browns. He returned four kickoffs for 135 yards with a long of 40 yards. On special teams, he also made one tackle.
It'll be interesting to see how Davis is used on the roster. He is familiar with Bears head coach Ben Johnson's offense, as the two were together with the Detroit Lions in 2024 when Johnson was the offensive coordinator.
Making one-handed catches certainly can't hurt a guy's chances of making the roster, but Davis will definitely have to do more to make the 53-man roster. Offense is most likely not the route for him, as he will have to get it done on special teams.
Being the main returner is going to be a hard ask for him since he is also competing with guys like Kalif Raymond and Zavion Thomas. More of what Davis will have to do is kickoff and punt coverage and make tackles there if he wants any shot of making the team.

Davis is an underrated player who no Bears fan thought would have any impact. This might be the first sign of things to come for the young man.
