Life without Caleb Williams is about to begin for the Chicago Bears, but the real question is whether they can survive without him in the lineup.
Williams is dealing with a hamstring injury he suffered in the Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, which could keep him out for multiple games. Bears head coach Ben Johnson already announced that Williams would not practice this week, but he won't rule him out of the Week 3 Monday Night Showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles.
There's a real chance Williams misses multiple games, so if he misses up to three, how will the Bears look in those games? Here are predictions for the next three games and who will start at quarterback in Williams's absence.
Predicting the next three games potentially without Caleb Williams
Week 3 vs. Philadelphia Eagles (Starting QB: Case Keenum)
Backup Tyson Bagent most likely misses this game due to his concussion, and with Keenum getting a full week of reps as the starter, he should get the nod. Keenum faces a strong Eagles defense that will give him problems all game long.
This comes down to whether Keenum can eliminate the turnovers and the Bears can run the ball well with Kyle Monangai and D'Andre Swift. The Eagles look like the better team on paper and should probably come out ahead against a Bears team that is going through life without Williams for the first time since drafting him.
Prediction: Eagles 27, Bears 17 (Record: 1-2)
Week 4 vs. New York Jets (Starting QB: Tyson Bagent)
Bagent is back, and the Bears are playing a much-improved Jets team that still has their problems. The Bears should be able to get the running game going with ease, and Bagent could pick up yards on the ground.
Chicago's defense could be in for a big day as well, with turnovers and multiple takeaways against a Jets offense that is still suspect despite being better. Even if New York is actually better for once, the Bears should still be able to pull out a win here.
Prediction: Bears 23, Jets 16 (Record: 2-2)
Week 5 at Green Bay Packers (Starting QB: Tyson Bagent)
After Thursday night's game against the Green Bay Packers, Bears fans may not need to worry about this game, no matter what happens. Green Bay won't have Micah Parsons in the game, and this is the same unit that surrendered 35 points and 498 yards against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 3.
Chicago won't exactly coast in this game either, as it's still going to be a slugfest to the very end since it is an NFC North match. Still, winning this game is realistic for the Bears and could very well happen.
