Not sure if anyone in Chicago slept after that late-night overtime victory over the Green Bay Packers, but the Bears probably didn't with their biggest win in years.
After being down 16-6 with over five minutes to go in the game, the Bears stormed back to force overtime and get the win. That win has them sitting at 11-4 and with a near two-game lead in the NFC North over the Packers.
What does this all mean for the playoff picture for the Bears and the NFC in general after the win? How close are the Bears to capturing the number one seed?
Bears' updated Week 16 NFC playoff picture after thrilling win over Packers
Chicago has a firm grip on the NFC North, as one more win against either the San Francisco 49ers or the Detroit Lions would give them the division title. Also, one more loss by the Packers and one more by the Lions will help with that division championship as well.
As for the teams that have already played, the Seattle Seahawks beat the Los Angeles Rams 38-37 in overtime, which gave Seattle the number one seed and helped the Bears at least not worry about LA. Now the Seahawks must lose their final two games for Chicago to win the last two, and the Rams must lose one more game.
The Philadelphia Eagles took care of business against the Washington Commanders 29-18 before the Bears game, which isn't the end of the world, but it isn't ideal. As long as the Eagles only finish with a 12-5 or worse record, the Bears will own the tiebreaker against them because of the head-to-head.
Here is the current look at the NFC playoff picture entering the second half of Week 16's schedule:
1. Seattle Seahawks (12-3)
2. Chicago Bears (11-4)
3. Philadelphia Eagles (10-5)
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-7)
5. Los Angeles Rams (11-4)
6. San Francisco 49ers (10-4)
7. Green Bay Packers (9-5-1)
Chicago will face the 49ers in Week 17, so they can at least knock them out of the number one seed contention with a win and own a tiebreaker against them with the victory. That leaves just one more thing: the NFC North.
The Detroit Lions are still in the hunt for the playoffs at 8-6, but one more loss ends their division hopes. Green Bay can't afford to lose anymore, either, as one loss helps the Bears as well. If Chicago wins just one of their last two games, the NFC North is theirs.

It's simple for the Bears as they need to win out to have a shot. Chicago has defined the odds before, and they can do it again as they fight for the number one seed now.
