Bears vs Falcons Injury Report: Marion Barber to Miss Bears’ Season Opener
One of the Bears’ big offseason additions will miss the regular season opener on Sunday vs the Atlanta Falcons. According to league sources, Barber will miss the season opener, putting off his Chicago Bears regular season debut. It puts a lot more focus on Matt Forte and third string running back Kahlil Bell.
Barber hurt his calf in the third preseason game against the Titans on August 27th and hasn’t practiced since. When Barber was the only Bear to have no participation in practice on Wednesday, you had to think the outlook wasn’t good.
The Bears brought Barber in to be the “thunder” to Matt Forte’s “lightning” but they’ll need to wait at least another week for this backfield duo to take the league by storm.
Other Bears on the injury report include Anthony Adams, Sam Hurd and Corey Wooten with limited participation and Kahlil Bell, Lance Briggs, Kellen Davis, Patrick Mannelly, Craig Steltz and Chris Conte all with full participation. I am guessing that the limited guys don’t suit up on Sunday.
The Bears also filled their last roster spot vacated by the release of Will Ta’ufo’ou, picking up another true fullback Tyler Clutts (and no, I’m not making that name up) off the Browns practice squad.
