NFL Draft: AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl

1 of 2

College football bowl season is under way. If you are like most NFL fans, you know some players on the top college football teams but that is about it. As a Bears fan, my NFL season has been over for weeks so I’ve gotten an early start on my scouting for next year’s NFL draft.

I love watching football even if it’s games I have no rooting interest in, so over the holidays I end watching a lot of random bowl games. One thing that makes the bowl games more interesting for me is to keep an eye on players who will be drafted next season. This year I will breaking down the players who have a shot at getting drafted for most of the remaining bowl games. If you end up watching the AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl, here are some players to keep an eye on.

AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl: Arkansas vs Texas

When: Dec. 29th 9 PM (EST)

Arkansas

Beth Hall-USA TODAY Sports

DE Trey Flowers, SR #86 (6’3 | 270 | 4.82)

Scouting report – Good size and long, powerful arms that allow him to maintain separation from blockers. He’s not very explosive off the ball, but picks up speed quickly and should improve as a pass rusher once he adds a few rush moves. Flowers has been consistent, but hasn’t had more than 6 sacks in a season during his three years as a starter. He is pretty solid against the run with some pass rush ability and has potential to improve.

Projection: 3rd round

OLB Martrell Spaight, SR #47 (6’2 | 230 | 4.70)

Scouting report – One of the most improved players in the SEC this year with 123 tackles after only 22 as a junior. Spaight is a big time hitter in the run game and could earn a spot in the draft with a strong Senior Bowl performance.

Projection: 4th-5th round
