2) Jordan Leggett TE

The need for a tight end has garnered little attention in comparison to the secondary and quarterback. However, Chicago desperately needs help when it comes to the tight end spot as well. Zach Miller is aging and is injury prone, and Daniel Brown is unproven. A young prospect like Jordan Leggett could be just what the Bears need.

At 6’5 and 250 lbs, Leggett has size and speed to create huge mismatches against corners, safeties, and linebackers. He reminds me a lot of Martellus Bennett in many ways, both good and bad.

First, his agility catches many defenders off guard. Leggett isn’t as fast as a Jimmy Graham, but he’s consistently shown the ability to make defenders miss in the open field. Additionally, he manages to create great separation getting in and out of his breaks. Lastly, Leggett functions well as a blocker. He will likely need to add weight to continue that production in the NFL, but the fundamentals are there.

Unfortunately, Leggett isn’t a good blocker all the time. At times, Leggett clearly decides to take plays off, much like Bennett in the 2014 season. Taking plays off at any time draws a tag that no prospect wants on their record, lazy. Leggett has 3 down potential in the NFL if he decides to work his hardest every play.

Drafting Leggett in the third round or later would be a great move by the Chicago Bears.
