7. Joe Lowery, OT, Ohio

The Chicago Bears did not go offensive line early in their draft. In fact, they did not go offensive line at all, to the surprise of some. However, they hit the position extremely hard with UDFAs. Lowery stands out as one of their better additions.

A two-year starter, Lowery spent most of his time at left tackle. Despite a 6’6″ frame, he is not overly athletic, and does not have possess elite length measurable that make him a quality addition.

However, he is technically refined and handled himself well as a run blocker against MAC competition. In fact, he received high honors as a run blocker by Pro Football Focus.

One of the Chicago Bears biggest issues last season was their run blocking ability. Lowery is a high effort run blocker who is going to push those above him if he does not find a way to make the roster over them.

It will be interesting to see his technical refinement and lack of athleticism up against Rashard Coward and his athletic upside and raw ability.
