Week 3

Remember, the script is flipped a little and we are looking at Week 2 of the 2018 season and Week 3 of the 2019 season. This still isn’t a great comparison, but again, the Chicago Bears came out with a victory and found themselves 2-1 at this point in both 2018 and 2019.

In 2018, the Bears made a statement by defeating Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks 24-17. The difference was a first-quarter touchdown as both teams scored 14 in the second half. Although the Chicago Bears won by seven points, this game felt much closer.

In 2019, the Chicago Bears played Washington. The team dominated the first half with 28 points, yet Washington battled back with 12 points in the second half. Even though the Bears won fairly easily, the game felt closer than it was at times. Similarly to the win against the Seahawks in 2018. Seeing a pattern here? The similarities between these seasons are much closer than fans seem to remember.

Week 4

Both Week 4 games in 2018 and 2019 were statement games. The statements might be slightly different, but they were truly statement games. In 2018, the Bears faced off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Everyone remembers this game and thought it was Mitchell Trubisky‘s coming out party. He threw for 354 yards and six touchdowns as the Bears won 48-10.

Trubisky has not played that well ever since, but he did make the Pro Bowl as an alternate for his play in 2018. Despite the rough start to this season, we did not get to see him play much against the Vikings in Week 4 of 2019. Reminiscent of 2018, Trubisky was hurt while playing the Vikings and would not return. The shoulder injury led to him missing Week 5, but not before the defense dominated the Vikings to a 16-6 victory. Both years, the Bears were 3-1 heading into Week 4.
