Thankful they are not the Rams

The Los Angeles Rams have one of the brightest minds in football leading them every week, yet the team has struggled as much, if not more than the Chicago Bears this season. Despite beating the Bears, one win separates these teams this season. Neither is going to make the playoffs and have seen similar issues come up. Has the NFL figured these teams out that quickly?

The reason the Bears should be thankful they are not the Rams is that even though the team is struggling, they are in a better position going forward. We all know the Bears do not have a 2020 first-round draft pick. Guess what, they still have Khalil Mack. The Rams, however, do not have a first-round pick until 2022.

Here is a complete rundown of all of the trades they made. Some quick highlights include two first-round picks for Jalen Ramsey, a first-round pick for Brandin Cooks, a second-round pick for Sammy Watkins (who played less than a year), and first-round picks to trade up for Jared Goff.

Speaking of Goff, with how bad Mitchell Trubisky has been this year, would you rather be in the Bears situation or the Rams? Trubisky will be going into year four of his career in 2020. The Bears still have his fifth-year option if he figures things out next season. The Bears also have an opportunity to bring in some competition next season for Trubisky. This could be in the form of the NFL draft or free agency or both.

The Rams are on the hook for Goff though. Goff is going to make over $30 million dollars per year the next three seasons and the Rams do not have an out until 2023 where Goff’s dead cap space will only be $5 million. After a poor rookie year, Goff seemed to figure things out the last two seasons. This is why he was paid so handsomely. Now it looks as Goff may not be that good.

I might be biased, but as of right now, I would rather be in the Bears situation going forward.
