Free agent depth moves the Bears should make to fill Roquan Smith void
Antonio Morrison
One of the other names I mentioned earlier this year was Manti Te’o. Te’o was re-signed last week by the New Orleans Saints and is now off the table. Another name the Bears could consider though is Antonio Morrison.
Morrison was a fourth-round pick in 2016. The Indianapolis Colts drafted him 125th overall. Morrison’s best season was his sophomore year in 2017. He made 108 combined tackles including three for a loss. Morrison was not a game-changer, but he would make a solid option as a depth piece for the Bears.

The Green Bay Packers traded for Morrison in 2018 to help fill a void they had at the inside linebacker position. Morrison started eight games for the Packers last year. He finished the year with one sack, five tackles for loss and 48 combined tackles.
The Packers cut Morrison in March of this year. Reports came out that Morrison was cited for an incident at an airport. Apparently, Morrison caused a scene on an airplane when the flight attendant asked passengers about a bag under an empty seat. Morrison finally said it was his, but argued with the flight attendants shouting obscenities and claiming he could do what he wanted.
With airlines taking every precaution necessary to ensure the safety of their passengers, especially regarding unclaimed bags, the flight attendants had every right to ask about the bag. The pilot brought the plane back to the terminal where Morrison was detained. He apparently continued with his obscenities and had to take a plea regarding the situation.
It was not confirmed if the incident is why Morrison was cut as the Packers freed up a few million in cap space with the move. In my opinion, the citation is not that big of a deal and Morrison deserves another shot. Could his time come now with the Bears?
