Nick Foles

If you thought this would be Mitchell Trubisky, you were wrong. Nick Foles may be the most overhyped player coming into the 2020 season. Some fans actually believe Foles is the savior for the Chicago Bears’ franchise.

Yes, Foles did win a Super Bowl. So did Joe Flacco. Foles had one of the greatest runs by a quarterback in history, and he almost never plays like that. Foles may be one of the most inconsistent quarterbacks in the NFL right now.

Even the year he won the Super Bowl in 2017, he played horribly in the regular season. He only completed 56.4% of his passes for 537 yards. He also threw five touchdowns, two interceptions, and posted a 79.5 passer rating. He did this starting in three games.

Then in 2018, we saw a much improved Foles in the regular season. He completed 72.3% of his passes for 1,413 yards, seven touchdowns, and four interceptions. His passer rating was 96.0 as well. We then saw in the 2018 playoffs he got outplayed by Trubisky.

These are his passer ratings every season from 2012: 79.1, 119.2, 81.4, 69.0, 105.9, 79.5, 96.0, and 84.6. His career passer rating is 88.2 and people are already crowning him as the starter. In addition to this, Foles has never played a 16 game season.

All the facts add up to Foles won’t start 16 games for the Bears either. I’d be shocked if he started more than 12 honestly.

All in all, Foles fans and general Bears fans genuinely focus on his highs while ignoring his lows. On the other hand, the fans ignore Trubisky’s highs saying to show consistency. It goes both ways. Both are inconsistent thus far. Who do you trust to be consistent: the veteran-inconsistent player or the young player still learning?
