Germain Ifedi wins the Chicago Bears right guard position

Hopefully, you are reading more than just the subheadings. Obviously Germain Ifedi is the favorite to win the starting right guard position, but it should be pointed out that he will wind up being the key to unlocking the offensive line’s success this season. This is the bold prediction.

I must point out that I am a huge Kyle Long fan. I still believe if he was not moved to the right tackle position he would be compared to the likes of Quenton Nelson. Unfortunately, Long did move to the right tackle position and wound up constantly injured ever since. Now he is out of the league and the Bears offensive line is somewhat in shambles.

We cannot speak about the 2019 season positively when discussing the offensive line. Even the 2018 season was not great from an offensive line perspective. However, bringing in Germain Ifedi will prove to be better than it looks on paper. He has proven to be better on the inside than the outside and will help establish the interior run game in a way the team could not do in 2019.

With the Chicago Bears offensive line proving to find its way from the bottom to at least mediocrity, the offense is going to be more successful this season than it has been over the last two seasons. Wait, was that a bold prediction, within a bold prediction? Maybe.
