Ranking the top-five free agents the Chicago Bears must target in 2022
By Ryan Olson
4. Chicago Bears Free Agent Target: Orlando Brown Jr., OT – Chiefs
Projected Contract: 5 years/115 million
Orlando Brown was recently dealt with the Chiefs from the Ravens to be their franchise tackle but his future in Kansas City could be murky because of their sticky cap situation. Orlando Brown is a premier tackle and could be worth it to move Teven Jenkins back to right tackle, as Larry Borom to guard if the Bears let James Daniels walk in free agency.d
Orlando Brown brings physical run blocking as his main attraction, as well as pass blocking upside. Brown went the whole 2020 season without giving up a sack before getting dealt to Kansas City in the offseason. Brown who had struggled to start the season in Kansas City had two very good showings in the playoffs. Brown will be only 26 at the start of the 2022 season so there is always room to develop.
Brown is projected at such a massive contract because of how hard it is to find a franchise tackle in the NFL. Tackle is a premium position in the NFL and the Bears should be looking to find an already proven solution to solve their offensive line problems.
