The Chicago Bears could pursue free agent guard Mark Glowinski

Again looking at a possible offensive free agent from the Colts, this time we’re eyeing the offensive line. This offseason, the Bears might end up really seeing a shakeup in this area. There is a world where the Bears only keep Teven Jenkins and Larry Borom at tackle and find a whole new interior.

One guy the Bears could look at adding is guard Mark Glowinski. Coming off a three-year, $16 million deal with the Colts, This last season, Glowinski had a pretty stellar year for Indianapolis. He allowed just two sacks on 843 offensive snaps played, and only committed two penalties as well.

Glowinski is a better run blocker than pass blocker, which would help the identity the Bears want to establish. In a Shanahan-type offense, the Bears will want to be run-focused with the ground game opening up the pass.

As a relatively cheap option, Glowinski would still be much better than retaining a guy like Sam Mustipher. In this case, looking at it player for player, Glowinski is a significant upgrade.
