Chicago Bears draft prospects who dominated Combine: DL Travis Jones

One area not to forget about this offseason is upfront on defense. The Bears are likely going to lose Akiem Hicks in free agency unless the two sides could come together on a cheaper deal that makes sense. They might also cut ties with Eddie Goldman if they want to save some money.

If that’s the case, then the Bears have Bilal Nichols, Mario Edwards, and Angelo Blackson as their primary defensive linemen — and not all of those guys might be back, either.

Let’s keep the trend going by looking at the type of players Eberflus and Poles want to bring in and chat about University of Connecticut defensive lineman Travis Jones.

At 6-foot-4 and 325 pounds, Jones came in as a possible mid-round pick. When he left the Combine, though, Jones very well could be a Day 2 guy now.

For a man of Jones’ size, his 40-yard dash time of 4.92 is absolutely incredible. Just for comparison, that’s around a similar time of Jameis Winston, who is a “mobile” quarterback. In fact, it’s a quicker time.

Jones also notched a 28.5-inch vertical jump and a 110-inch broad jump. He showed quick feet throughout drills, making him a tantalizing prospect for a team like the Bears.
