7. Quinton Jefferson could fill Chicago Bears depleted DL

The Chicago Bears very well could be losing Akiem Hicks, Bilal Nichols, and Eddie Goldman this offseason. That would mark the start of a lot of change and would have the team looking to bring in some outside free agents to fill the defensive line.

Quinton Jefferson is a player that most casual fans do not know, but if you watch tape of the defensive lines that he is on, you know that you are going to get your money worth with him.

Jefferson started his career as a rotational player in Seattle before signing with the Buffalo Bills. After one year in Buffalo, he signed to play with the Las Vegas Raiders and Rod Marinelli. Marinelli is a mentor of Matt Eberflus, and defensive line coach Travis Smith came from the Raiders.

Smith worked with Jefferson last season and last season was the best year that Jefferson put on tape. He had a career-high mark in sacks, tackles for loss, combined tackles, and quarterback hits.

Considering Eberflus has the same ideologies that he learned from Marinelli, and Smith is bringing the exact ideologies that Marinelli wanted, this fit seems to make plenty of sense. Jefferson was at his best in this scheme, and the coaches know him well. He is under the radar, but the snap-in and snap-out grind that he brings lineman is well worth the money that he is going to get.

This is not a flashy signing but could be a great one for the Chicago Bears.
