10. Zach Thomas

One of the more surprising notes from the Chicago Bears preseason finale was the positioning of Zach Thomas. The rookie draft pick had been ahead of Lachavious Simmons during the first two preseason games, but apparently, the Bears liked what Simmons did the first two games much more than Thoms.

They gave Simmons the nod at guard and then when they shifted to Thomas, they played Simmons at left tackle. It is hard to say that Simmons is not ahead of Zach Thomas. Still, unless the team is ready to completely give up on him, he should circle back to the practice squad. He certainly did not show enough to get claimed on waivers after this off-season.

Thomas should join Carter as two draft picks who spend their rookie season on the practice squad.
