3 ways Chicago Bears can keep Philadelphia Eagles game close
1. The Chicago Bears have Justin Fields
This is rare for the Chicago Bears to say and feel. They have a quarterback who can keep their team in games. Especially in this situation, when the scoring may get up there if anything can keep things close, it is Justin Fields.
Fields is obviously a tough player on the ground. As noted, if Philadelphia is looking ahead to Dallas, this running style will be a shock to their system. They went from Davis Mills to Justin Fields and then to Dak Prescott. The mobility in between is quite different.
Beyond that, Fields is improving as a passer. His most mature game as an NFL passer came against the Green Bay Packers. Now, he has the bye week to reflect and improve on that performance. The way in which Fields has trended in the NFL can tell you that he is likely to do that.
Lastly, we saw Luke Getsy change his play-calling style during a mini-bye week halfway through the NFL season. Now, Getsy has a full week to see how defenses responded to his change-up. This gives Getsy one last chance to have the final tweak, and end the season on a high note.
Getsy could catch them off-guard and should be looking better after some time off as a first-year play caller. Justin Fields can score any second, and keep games tight by his big play ability. Matt Eberflus has crafted a game plan or two for Nick Sirianni. The Chicago Bears may not win, but they may be a tougher battle for the Eagles than some initially think.
