1. Chicago Bears have to be in on Michael Thomas

Michael Thomas restructured his contract with the New Orleans Saints, which basically put a deadline for him to be moved by March 17. This one is interesting because it is probably in the Saints’ best interest to release him, rather than wait.

To start, it would be hard to get the parameters down, but his contract has them saving more money by making him a post-June 1 cut. Because Thomas has hardly played in about two full seasons. they are not going to get a pick that makes it worth the money that they would have to carry.

He restructured his deal knowing he would get cut, too. So, Michael Thomas is going to get released and get to pick his next destination. He knows that. The question will be whether the Ohio State connection can sway him to the Chicago Bears.

Still, while the Saints probably will just release him, Michael Thomas will be on a new team next season. The Chicago Bears will have to at least debate adding him. Others on the list may be free at some point. Michael Thomas will be available.
