The trenches are sure to be a target of the Chicago Bears, and Texas defenisve tackle Alfred Collins would make a lot of sense in the second round.

Taylor Doll has been crushing it with her NFL Draft podcast series on our 2nd City Gridiron channels. She's interviewing reporters and analysts who have covered these prospects to get us the skinny on them both on and off the field. In the last couple of weeks, her Making Monsters podcasts have already spent time on LSU, Notre Dame, Texas, and Michigan.

Her interview with CJ Vogler, College Football Insider and Recruiting Analyst who covers the University of Texas for On Texas Football, gave Taylor some outstanding info on the top Longhorns' prospects, including offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr., wide receivers Matthew Golden and Isaiah Bond, and defensive linemen, Alfred Collins and Vernon Broughton. But it's Collins who may match up with Chicago's need and draft slot the best. He could be in play for the Bears in the second round, and Vogler is high on his potential in the NFL.

“You said versatility, that's Alfred Collins," Vogler told us. "Again, a former five-star guy, put whatever stock you want into high school rankings, but that typically indicates what kind of athleticism matches the size and the speed, right? So Alfred, 6'6, 330 pounds, big boy. And I think the best comparison there physically is Chris Jones, right? Playing on that interior, a guy that you can move around."

"I'm not saying he's going to be Chris Jones, because I know that there's a level of physicality with Chris Jones that you're not going to find really elsewhere in the NFL. But for Alfred, one thing that I thought really stood out to me about his game this year was just being a complete rock in the middle of the defensive line. Not a guy that was moved very easily. He discarded offensive linemen very easily to create plays.”

Alfred Collins could be a sneaky option for the Chicago Bears in the 2025 NFL Draft

The Bears could use a prospect to back up and eventually replace Andrew Billings in the starting lineup, and Collins could be that guy, but his versatility makes him more than just a nose tackle.

“Point blank, he's going to be a run-stuffing guy for whichever team he joins. And if there's another pass-rushing guy on that interior that he can kind of go hand in hand with -- and not to say he can't get to the quarterback, it just wasn't a big strength of his. But during his time at Texas, he's played anywhere from the nose to the three [technique] to the five out to the seven.”
