2. The bye week could not have come at a better time for the Bears.

The Bears' defense was starting to get hit with injuries leading up to the Jacksonville game. Safety Jaquan Brisker is in concussion protocol, and cornerback Tyrique Stevenson missed the game after suffering an injury during practice last Thursday. Though the Bear's defense was not challenged much, nickelback Kyler Gordon suffered an injury in the second half and did not return to the game. His status remains unknown so it is worth monitoring the severity of his injury.

Even more shocking was long snapper Scott Daly suffered an injury early in the game. As a result, tight end Cole Kmet, who scored two touchdowns had to snap the ball for extra points as a backup long snapper the rest of the game.

Also, cornerback Terelle Smith and defensive tackle Zaach Pickens have been injured for quite some time now. If one or both are ready to play after the bye week, their presence would help add more depth to the defense.

On offense, wide receiver DJ Moore was getting his shoulder checked on the sideline. He has taken some big hits recently, so the bye week hopefully helps him heal and recover any pain he has been dealing with.

Some fans will bemoan the Bears having the bye week will slow down their momentum as their offense was finally starting to hit stride. But the bye will definitely help because they will need every player available and ready as their season gets more difficult.
