The Chicago Bears made their final decisions on the 53-man roster, and so did the rest of the NFL, which should have the team's attention.
Over 1,000 players were cut from all 32 teams, leaving many players looking for jobs and NFL teams looking to bring some in. Chicago had its own surprise releases, but it may have its sights set on some who could help in 2026.
There are six players who are free agents that the Bears should look at bringing in for the 2026 season, with some who might even be able to start right away. Here's a list of those players Chicago could use right now.
Free agents Bears need to consider signing for the 2026 season
Sam Williams, EDGE
Chicago's pass rush is just not where it needs to be, and there is still concern about the overall defensive end group. Williams is a young player who may not be a starter, but would be a perfect rotational guy to mix in with Dayo Odeyingbo and Austin Booker. The Bears would be a better pass-rushing team with him.
Taylor Decker, OT
Braxton Jones gave the Bears zero confidence that he can handle the starting left tackle job after his poor showing at training camp and preseason. Decker knows Ben Johnson's offense from their time together with the Detroit Lions, so it's worth exploring. This might have to happen right now.
Tyrel Dodson, LB
Dodson was a starter for the Miami Dolphins last year and made over 100 tackles for them. The Bears don't have many linebackers on the roster and could use some help there. They could use Dodson as a rotational guy or might even start him in some games; he's that good.
Trevon Diggs, CB
It was surprising to see the Seattle Seahawks cut him, but they plan to add him to the practice squad if no other teams jump on the plan first. There's hope that rookie Malik Muhammad can hold his own at nickel and Tyrique Stevenson can play well at one of the outside corner spots. Still, Diggs would be a great insurance piece and might be an instant upgrade to the position.
Kenny Moore II, CB
Moore is a veteran who has been in the league for a while and played at a high level. After a nice run with the Colts, he could be a good one-year rental for the Bears to ensure they have depth at corner. After all the injuries they have had, it doesn't hurt to add another player in the mix.

Geno Stone, S
Stone was a starter over the last two years with the Cincinnati Bengals, but the Buffalo Bills released him; it was an interesting move. Again, the Bears' secondary has been banged up, and they have upgrades at safety after Coby Bryant's injury. Stone might be able to sneak in as a starter over Cam Lewis and Xavier Woods.
