Bears are officially in a bind after latest minicamp development

This could be a problem.

One of the biggest talking points (arguably a point point, rather) for the Chicago Bears this offseason has had to do with their back field. Is there enough talent for Ben Johnson to work with?

There were still a couple of veteran free agents available as the Bears entered their mandatory minicamp, but we saw Nick Chubb sign with the Houston Texans early this week. Then, the best of the rest, J.K. Dobbins, chose to join the Denver Broncos.

Now, the Bears are truly left with what they have. Barring a trade at some point, Chicago is going to be rolling into the season with D'Andre Swift, Roschon Johnson and seventh-round rookie Kyle Monangai.

Is this really that bad? Only time will tell.

It's up to Ben Johnson to make the most out of the Chicago Bears' running back room

There was once some hope of the Bears adding a player like either Chubb or Dobbins. But, that hope has since evaporated. This notion might make it sound like the Bears are in a negative spot, but the reality is, they're simply in a tighter space than they once were.

Without any legitimate options to easily add via free agency, it's now on Johnson to make the most of Swift, Roschon and Monangai.

If anybody can do it, it's the Bears head coach. He came in with offensive ingenuity and that's exactly what fans are expecting out of him, now.

Looking at the positive, Swift has typically been one to excel in space, and Johnson is smart enough to create that space for him. Meanwhile, Roschon has had flashes of being that bruising back and could have upside as the "Knuckles" within this offense.

Monangai could also be that type of player, and it's up to the rookie to earn himself some playing time.

The back field depth chart does have a lot to like about it, but will it be good enough for the offense to succeed? Again, we are going to have to wait and see. Until then, there could still be plenty of speculation as to whether the Bears would pursue a trade to help add some talent there.
