If the Chicago Bears win in Week 18, they will earn the No. 2 seed in the NFC and match up with the Np. 7 Green Bay Packers in another postseason renewal of their rivalry. Oddly enough, the Packers will be bringing in a much-maligned defensive back just a few days removed from what was a stunning release.

With the lack of talent in the secondary starting to show and the Micah Parsons injury making things even worse, the Packers have decided to prepare for a potential matchup against their longtime foes by claiming cornerback Trevon Diggs off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys.

This move may look great for those who scout based off name recognition instead of watching how far things have declined for the former All-Pro. However, the Bears will not only be undeterred by this addition, but they could use it to their advantage.

Bears fans should laugh at Packers panicking and signing Trevon Diggs

Diggs has allowed a perfect passer rating when targeted this season, all while surrendering a whopping 17.9 yards per reception. Diggs is not just underperforming; he is playing so badly that it should be asked if he deserves to even be a rotational defensive back at this point.

Diggs was never a great run defender or tackler in the open field, which exacerbates many of the problems that he brings to the table. Diggs lacks the same turnover generation skills, and his struggles in Matt Eberflus' zone-heavy scheme may persist with the Packers.

The Bears likely won't be fearing Green Bay's secondary with or without Diggs, especially if Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III are given a clean bill of health. With no Parsons to force Caleb Williams into some errant throws, Bears fans might feel confident in their abiility to tear apart their defense in the clutch.

Diggs is a complete reclamation project at this stage of his career, and if the Packers are anticipating that he can make some sort of difference in the playoffs, Bears fans should tank them for making it even easier for Ben Johnson to exploit their weaknesses.
