Bears may already have what the Bengals want for Trey Hendrickson

Could this get a trade done?

Over the weekend, the Chicago Bears not only got themselves a massive preseason win over the Buffalo Bills, but they also saw some monumental news come out about a player who would fit in Chicago like a glove.

Cincinnati Bengals star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson could be on the move as the team has officially started listening to offers for last year's sack leader. And, according to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, Cincinnati's asking price is pretty simple: a first-round pick in 2026 and a young, defensive player.

For a player the Bears could desperately use and who would completely reshape this roster, Chicago might just have exactly what the Bengals are looking for.

The Bears could offer Cincinnati exactly what they want in a Trey Hendrickson trade

Look, this might be going out on a limb, but let's say the Bears' 2026 first-round pick lands in the back half. We can safely assume the Bears are going to be improved, and if all goes according to plan, they end the year with a winning record.

Now, if you put Hendrickson on this team, that's almost a guarantee outside of any potential injuries. So, we'll say the Bears are sending Cincinnati a pick between 19 and 25. That's not so bad.

As for the young defensive player in return, why not include cornerback Tyrique Stevenson? He's had his issues, but he's also a talented player and the Bengals could use more talent in that secondary. Chicago could plug in Nahshon Wright for the 2025 season and address the position's depth next year.

Cincinnati currently has DJ Turner II and Cam Taylor-Britt starting outside, and Stevenson would have a shot at beating out either one of them. Turner is still young and raw, just like Stevenson, so his career could take a turn one way or the other.

If it isn't Stevenson, maybe the Bears would part with Dayo Odeyingbo. However, the Bengals would have to be OK absorbing that contract. It isn't nearly as expensive as Hendrickson, but it's still a significant cost.

Either way, I think the Bears are in position to make a move like this. If they're able to give up one of those players and the Bengals don't see a better offer, look out.
