Bears' receiving corps no longer under the radar after latest PFF rankings

PFF recently released its list of the top 32 receiving corps in the NFL.

It should be worth noting that when they say receiving, and not wide receiver, they mean it. They are also looking at tight ends and pass-catching running backs. With that in mind, they put the Chicago Bears ninth on their list.

The Chicago Bears have a top ten pass catcher unit

This is probably fair given where the Bears. They have a deep group of pass catchers, but not quite high-end enough to say elite. Colston Loveland and Rome Odunze were top ten picks, but neither has the name value to live up to it yet. Luther Burden is a rookie as well.

D.J. Moore is obviously the star of the group and gets them shots above plenty of teams who need a top option like Moore. But the depth of Cole Kmet, D’Andre Swift, and the potential of the young names got them to number nine.

The Eagles ranked first, and it's as simple as saying that the Bears cannot stack up with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, who may be in a tier close to Moore. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, along with Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, round out the top duos in PFF's top three.

The Lions rank fourth, which seems high, but you have to remember Jahmyr Gibbs and Sam LaPorta are being weighted into this. The same can be said of the 49ers, who have Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle. However, you could say that wide receiver only, the Bears can stack with these teams.

Minnesota has Jordan Addison to complement Justin Jefferson, and Miami has the duo of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. With the Rams adding Davante Adams next to Puka Nacua, it is clear that this is about as high as Chicago can get. Only two teams even have an argument with Chicago, but they have elite options at RB or TE.

If the Chiefs get Rashee Rice healthy and Xavier Worthy takes a step, they could be trouble and if George Pickens fits in Dallas perfectly, they could catch Chicago, but those are the biggest threats below the Bears. If the rookies have a good year and Oduzne ascends, they will be higher on this list next year.
