The 2025 NFL Schedule will officially be released tonight, and of course, we know the Chicago Bears are opening the season on Monday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings.

While the game against the Vikings will have all the headlines: Ben Johnson making his debut as the Bears' head coach, JJ McCarthy presumably making his NFL debut, and Brian Flores having a chance to prove the Bears wrong, it's a game that doesn't exactly have the revenge factor.

That will come in Week 2 for the Bears when they play the Detroit Lions in Detroit. The game will serve as Johnson's return to Detroit, and first game against his former team, but it will also be the first time the Bears have been back in Detroit since Matt Eberflus' fateful incompetence during Thanksgiving day game in 2024.

Eberflus froze during the closing the moments of the Bears' loss to the Lions, and that seemed to have been the final straw for the locker room. The following day, despite conducting his regular press conference following a game day, Eberflus was fired as the Bears' head coach. It was a move that was needed as it became clear he lost his locker room.

The Bears will finally have the opportunity to repay the favor to Eberflus. Eberflus, now the defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys, will see his former team when Dallas plays the Bears at Soldier Field. The matchup between the Bears and Cowboys will reportedly take place in Week 3 of the 2025 season.

The Bears can finally get back at Matt Eberflus for wasting their time.

What's become clear is that there is no love lost between current Bears players and their former head coach. Jaylon Johnson made his feelings very clear on his former head coach when he was the loudest critic of Eberflus after the Bears' Thanksgiving Day loss last season. In a series of social media posts throughout the offseason, Jaquan Brisker has also made it clear he was not fond of how Eberflus' coaching staff handled his recovery. With the game also being at Soldier Field, Eberflus likely won't get the warmest of greetings from Bears fans.
