The Chicago Bears' secondary once again takes another hit with injury at training camp.

Marquee Sports Network Bears reporter Scott Bair shared that cornerback Kyler Gordon was heading into the locker room during their Thursday practice. Gordon did not return to practice at the time of this article and his status is unknown.

This is the second starter to walk off the practice field this week with an injury. Tight end Cole Kmet also left practice Tuesday with an injury, but was seen wrapped up and back at it during Thursday's session.

How significant of an injury would it be to lose Gordon in the Bears' secondary

The Bears could be facing a second injury to the secondary as their star cornerback Jaylon Johnson, has been out all of training camp with a leg injury. Johnson's current target date to return is Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Gordon has played a significant role in the secondary since the Bears selected him in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Primarily playing in the nickel, Gordon has 34 of the 42 games he has appeared in during his career.

Last year, he racked up a career-high 75 tackles along with four tackles for loss, two quarterback hits, a half of a sack, five pass deflections, one forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries in 15 games.

With Johnson already out, the Bears can't afford to lose a second cornerback in Gordon. The hope is that he will be okay and can recover quickly from the injury.

Filling in for Gordon will be Josh Blackwell, who was listed as his backup on the Bears' unofficial depth chart. Watch for rookie Zah Frazier to also get some more reps, as he and Nick McCloud were listed as the third and fourth stringers.

It's always tough to see a player walk off the field as the hope is Gordon will be back soon.
