And the hits just keep on coming for the Chicago Bears after getting devastated on the road by the Detroit Lions 52-21 on Sunday.

NFL Spin Zone's Sayre Bedinger released his latest NFL power rankings, and it did not fare well for the Bears. They went from a 21st ranking last week to a 28th ranking after Week 2.

"The collapse in the second half against the Minnesota Vikings really impacted the Bears. They just looked deflated and defeated in a Week 2 loss against the Detroit Lions, and just calling it a loss feels like we’re being pretty nice.

The Bears were blown out badly. The Lions, who needed a garbage TD to get 13 points on the board last week against the Packers, ended up dropping 52 points on them. Most concerning for the Bears, beyond the performance of the absolute sieve of a defense, is the fact that Caleb Williams has had a rough couple of games to start this season.

Statistically speaking, Williams has put up fine numbers. But when you watch this team play, he’s still struggling with a lot of the same accuracy and processing issues. We’ll see how the Bears bounce back after an 0-2 start and a home game against another good offense – Dallas – on deck."

It may only get uglier for the Bears before it gets better

There are very few bright spots from last week's Lions game, but the Bears did get a career-best out of Rome Odunze, who had over 120 yards receiving and two touchdowns in the loss. Williams didn't play badly with two touchdowns and one interception, but the accuracy concerns are there.

The next five games will be very telling for the Bears with some tough matchups that could sink their season.

Week 3

vs. Cowboys

Week 4

at Raiders

Week 6

at Commanders

Week 7

vs. Saints

Week 8

at Ravens

What a nightmare to play the Commanders and Ravens on the road after both teams made the postseason last year. Getting the Raiders on the road as well will be challenging as it's never easy to win a cross country game.

If the Bears can't find a way to beat the Cowboys on Sunday, they might be potentially looking at a 1-6 record. The Saints game should be an automatic win, but the rest will be tough.

Bears head coach Ben Johnson has a lot of pressure on him after two losses in the division and now a five-game stretch that will only get worse. Even getting just two wins in the next five games might give them a fighting chance for the postseason.
