The Chicago Bears' secondary has taken some significant hits on the injury report, but the team is receiving some encouraging updates on the condition of their players.

The Athletic's Kevin Fishbain shared the Bears' injury update during his recap of Wednesday's practice at training camp with some good news on top defensive backs Kyler Gordon and Jaylon Johnson.

"Nickel cornerback Kyler Gordon is dealing with a “week-to-week” hamstring injury, but (Ben) Johnson is hopeful to get him back by the end of training camp. The Bears did get Nick McCloud back at practice, and he can work in at nickel along with Josh Blackwell.

As far as starting cornerback Jaylon Johnson goes, (Ben) Johnson said, 'He is right on track. Everything I said last time. … He is right where he needs to be. … Those types of injuries, you don’t know short term, long term. Everyone is a little bit different. But I think we’re going in the right direction right now.'

That would still put Week 1 as the target return for the Pro Bowler.

Offensive linemen Luke Newman and Doug Kramer were absent, but Bill Murray and Amegadjie were back on the field. Rookies Shemar Turner and Zah Frazier remain out. Running backs Travis Homer and Roschon Johnson, defensive back Tysheem Johnson and linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga did not practice."

Will the Bears get everyone back for the start of the 2025 regular season?

Gordon and Johnson are the two key concerns, as they are starters in the secondary. Johnson is on the right track despite having missed all of training camp so far. Ben Johnson is holding strong on Gordon coming back before the regular season as well.

Another interesting player to watch out for in the secondary is rookie Frazier. He also has not practiced all of training camp, as it was for personal reasons at the beginning. Fans are starting to wonder when he will be back, but hope everything is okay with him.

The rest of the Bears' injuries are not as serious as the team has addressed any positions with injury concerns. They just signed four defensive backs to the roster to help fill the depth chart during the preseason.
