Last season, despite the great moments from Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, every fan knows that he has not reached his full potential, and there are things he needs to work on.

Bears head coach Ben Johnson mentioned it throughout the year as Williams was learning the offense, and it was affecting his accuracy on his throws. Johnson spoke to the media about how Williams is handling it all in team meetings as they enter their second year together.

"He's been very receptive to all the coaching points. There's things that he looks to apply the next time we go to practice, and he does a really good job of taking it," Johnson said via 104.3 The Score's Chris Emma. "I think you can tell him something one time, and when he sees it on tape, he carries it on over to whether it's practice or the game. That showed up last year, and that continues to show up here this spring. So, the more our minds kind of think the same, I think the better off we are in the long run."

Caleb Williams is trending in the right direction in mastering Ben Johnson's offense

It was well documented throughout minicamp and training camp last year how Johnson was coaching Williams hard and trying to get him to process his offense. There were plenty of problems that came with it, as pre-snap issues caused a lot of the problems on offense before the season began.

Chicago's 11-6 record in 2025 showed that while things weren't perfect, Williams was able to put it all together and perform well in Johnson's offense. Williams finished with 3,942 yards and 27 touchdowns to seven interceptions while adding three rushing scores and a receiving touchdown to the stat sheet.

Now the big thing is to fix the small things in Williams's game, like his accuracy. After completing just 58% of his passes in 2025, that is an aspect of his game that has to get better if this offense wants to go from being a top 10 unit to number one in the league.

Williams has shown this offseason that he is putting in the work to improve as a quarterback through his work with Johnson and by working out with teammates. Multiple times this offseason, we saw Williams work with Colston Loveland, Rome Odunze, Luther Burden, and Jahdae Walker to build that chemistry.

Make no mistake about it, Williams is getting better as a quarterback physically and mentally, and once he puts it all together, he's going to be scary to defend for any of the 31 teams in the NFL.
