All that momentum the Chicago Bears head going into Week 18 against the Detroit Lions slipped away with the 19-16 loss.
It was all about the offense of Chicago that looked bad in the game. Caleb Williams completed just 20 of 33 passes for 212 yards and two touchdowns to one interception. The Bears' rushing attack was non existent with 65 yards on 18 carries in the loss.
After the game, Bears head coach Ben Johnson was also disgusted with the offensive performance. Johnson made sure to make his feelings known about their performance.
“I was not pleased with the offense today," Johnson said via 670 The Score's Chris Emma.
How bad was the Bears' offense in Week 18 against the Lions
A lot of the same issues they had in the Week 2 52-21 loss to the Lions all came together again. Williams was inconsistent, and the rushing attack didn't really get going as some had expected.
Some Bears fans might have wondered if not having Rome Odunze and Ozzy Trapilo on the field hurt the team. Chicago's receivers dropped a lot of passes in the game, and Theo Benedet replacing Trapilo takes away from what the second-round rookie does so well with pass blocking. Benedet being forced to pass block more than usual is a massive disadvantage for the Bears.
It doesn't help that, at the beginning of the game, rookie tight end Colston Loveland had seven of the first 11 targets. Rookie second-round pick Luther Burden III didn't even have a target until the second half of the contest.

Every Bears fan can understand the frustration that Johnson has with the offense, as they were feeling the same way. That feeling is going to have to go away quickly, and the offense needs to be fixed before Chicago hosts the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Wild Card.
