The Chicago Bears suffered an ugly Week 5 loss to the Green Bay Packers, thanks in part to a horrendous performance by starting quarterback Tyson Bagnet.

After a solid Week 4 performance against the New York Jets, Bagent faced Green Bay. He finished 12-of-21 for 87 yards and two interceptions. Bagent also had three rushes for 17 yards.

That performance was so bad that Case Keenum replaced Bagent for the entire fourth quarter. This performance reminds the Bears how lucky they are to have Caleb Williams and how much they need him back on the field as soon as possible.

Caleb Williams needs to return to the Bears starting lineup in Week 6

Bagent looked about as bad as it could be through three quarters. He repeated all the mistakes he made in the Jets game against the Packers, but Green Bay didn't shoot itself in the foot with injuries.

Last week, Bagent threw an interception against the Jets, but it could have been way worse for him. New York nullified four of his other interceptions with penalties.

This isn't uncommon for Bagent, though, despite being an athletically gifted quarterback. He's always struggled to protect the football, with three touchdowns and nine interceptions in his NFL career.

Bagent might have actually played himself out of the backup job, with Keenum possibly fitting that role better. Keenum has proven to be more accurate and better at protecting the football. Bagent might be faster and more mobile, but he has issues throwing the football against starters.

The good news is that this could be the last time Bears fans have to suffer through a Bagent start at quarterback. Week 6 against the Atlanta Falcons should have Williams back in the starting lineup.

Williams had a strong start to the season, throwing for 407 yards and two touchdowns, with one interception and an 85.2 QBR (ranked second in the NFL entering Week 5). He also added 107 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Chicago is clearly a better team when Williams is in the lineup, and the team would love to have him back. If the Bears had beaten the Packers, Chicago might have rolled with Bagent or Keenum in the Falcons game.

After that game, Williams needs to return to the lineup as soon as possible. The Bears' offense clearly can't function without Williams and Kyle Monangai. One or both of those guys have to returnthem need in Week 6 and help this offense.

The Bears rely so heavily on the running game that when two of their top three runners aren't playing, it hurts the team. Monangai has been a great power runner, and Williams can use his legs on scrambles.

Practice throughout Week 6 will be very interesting for the Bears, as everyone will see how Williams does and figure out whether he can play or not. He looked great in warmups before the Packers game, so he might be ready to go for the Falcons game. NFL insider Mike Garafolo reported before the game that the plan is for Williams to return against Atlanta.
