The buzz for Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams might be at the peak of his young NFL career.
Williams is riding high after throwing for 298 yards and four touchdowns in the Bears' 31-14 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3. That stellar performance earned him the NFC Offensive Player of the Week award.
Yeah, things are going pretty well for the young quarterback. Now that three weeks of football have been played in the NFL, where does he rank among the rest of the signal callers?
Williams gets a bigger rise in the QB rankings than some might expect
NFL Spin Zone's Sayre Bedinger shared the latest quarterback rankings of all 32 starters in the NFL. Williams had been hovering around the 21 to 18 rankings over the last few weeks, but he moved up to his highest placing of the season at 14.
"Since this is just a weekly thing, Caleb Williams making a huge jump like this is not against the rules. What we’ve seen from Caleb Williams in the first two weeks compared to what we saw in Week 3 was a night and day difference. Williams was getting everyone involved against Dallas’s defense, throwing four touchdown passes to four different receivers while also not taking a single sack. Overall, and considering the week prior, it might have been the best performance of his NFL career so far."
It's hard not to get caught up in the Williams mania occurring this week. He's thrown for over 700 yards and seven touchdowns to one interception through three games. Williams also has a rushing touchdown to show his versatility. He's top 10 in the NFL in passing touchdowns, QBR, and passer rating.
The hype is real with Williams, and he's playing at an elite level. He's done a great job of protecting the football and working through Bears head coach Ben Johnson's system, just as fans saw Jared Goff do over the last three years with the Detroit Lions.
