Respect is all that Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has been trying to earn since getting drafted number one overall in 2024. Williams is finally getting that.

The NFL has announced the NFC Players of the Week for Week 3 of the 2025 season. Williams was named the Offensive Player of the Week for the NFC.

Williams is coming off one of the best games of his career after completing 67.9% of his passes for 298 yards and four touchdowns to zero interceptions. He also had a passer rating of 142.6 in the win.

Williams making some recent history with the honor

This is big news for the Bears on multiple fronts, but it has been in the works for three years. Williams is the first Bears quarterback to win NFC Offensive Player of the Week since Week 9 in 2022, won by Justin Fields.

Williams has been off to a strong start to the season, currently ranking top 10 in the NFL in passing touchdowns, QBR, and passer rating. Despite the 1-2 start to the season, Williams has only turned the ball over once.

So much has been going right over the last week for Williams and the Bears' offense that was needed. The defense has suffered numerous injuries, so Williams has taken ownership and helped carry this offense to new heights on Sunday. Chicago's offense nearly got 400 yards of total offense, and Williams avoided getting sacked in the Bears' 31-14 win over the Dallas Cowboys for the first time in his career.

Things aren't 100% perfect, and there will be aspects of the game that Bears head coach Ben Johnson will need to work on with Williams, but this honor is vindication that Chicago made the right choice in selecting him last year.
