Many Chicago Bears fans were transparent in the fact that the team's offense was not operating at its smoothest in their 26-14 win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 7.
Part of the issue was that Bears quarterback Caleb Williams just seemed off for most of the match. Williams was missing the target on throws, specifically when running out of the pocket. Even he and center Drew Dalman had three different incidents when the snap between the two was just off.
Williams finished the game completing just 57.6% of his passes for 172 yards and one interception with a quarterback rating of 61.7 and a QBR of 19.8. Not exactly the types of numbers Bears fans have been accustomed to seeing this season.
After the game, Williams was accountable and owned up to his mistakes. It was a mature approach from a second-year quarterback looking to be the leader of the team, but something else he said should still give Bears fans confidence that he is still the franchise quarterback.
Williams issues a stark warning to the rest of the league after rough game
A part of that same press conference, even though Bears fans will be pleased to see the quarterback take his fair share of the blame, they wanted to see a little bit more. Oh, Williams certainly delivered a message to the NFL.
"We're going to figure this out. I'm going to figure this out ... it's going to be real devastating to the other side."
Once again, Williams hits all the right notes on his comments. He and everyone in Chicago knew he struggled, but his focus and determination to be better is exactly what was needed to be said.
Williams is still putting up good numbers in the regular season with 1,351 yards and nine touchdowns to three interceptions in six games. His quarterback rating (92.9) and QBR (52) are still higher than it was in his rookie season, so he's still making good progress.

Things will get better in Chicago because Williams and his head coach, Ben Johnson, will not allow it to get any worse. They are 4-2 and want to carry that momentum throughout the rest of the season.
