The Chicago Bears, coming off a magical season where they catapulted themselves to contender status, are ready to be even better in 2026. With the success of the 2025 season and a quarterback on the cover of the Madden video game, Chicago won’t be catching anyone by surprise in 2026.
The Bears believed they made the necessary additions this offseason to be ready for everyone’s best. Recently, Chicago’s cover star, Caleb Williams, spoke highly of one of the team’s new additions and got fans excited about a polarizing rookie.
Williams recently appeared on the New Heights podcast, and legendary tight end Travis Kelce told the young quarterback he absolutely loves the Bears tight end room. Kelce added that Williams has two absolute dogs, and that’s when the quarterback interjected that he “has a third one now.” Alluding to third-round pick Sam Roush, Williams smirked and said, “y’all haven’t seen him.”
Caleb Williams says Sam Roush is built just like Colston Loveland and Cole Kmet
Williams went into detail on Roush, saying he’s built just like Colston Loveland and Cole Kmet. Emphasizing that the rookie tight end is a good blocker in the run game and the pass, and can also get out smoothly and make catches, Williams says the Bears will take advantage of having three versatile tight ends.
That's when Jason Kelce asked Williams what he likes about having so many talented tight ends incorporated into the Bears offense. The quarterback explained that there are numerous benefits, highlighting how the tight ends can be used in pass protection, but also how Chicago can come out in 13 personnel ( one running back and three tight ends), forcing defenses to send out a heavy package, before Chicago shifts out and takes advantage of the mismatches.
Williams recounted a time the Bears did that last season, then smiled again and said Ben Johnson is going to cook up this year. It’s safe to say Bears fans are smiling just like Williams after hearing those comments.

Many analysts argued that Chicago reached picking Roush as early as the team did, but everyone recognized that he was arguably the best blocking tight end in the draft. The Bears saw that and seemingly much more. This season, they will display all that they saw in Sam Roush.
