There is certainly a lot of attention on the Chicago Bears' coaching staff, with teams trying to get them interviewed or hired.
The Bears have already lost running backs coach Eric Bieniemy, who is returning to the Kansas City Chiefs as their offensive coordinator. Bears defensive backs coach and defensive pass game coordinator Al Harris has interviewed with the Green Bay Packers and will meet with the Washington Commanders on their defensive coordinator openings.
Now joining the action is the Philadelphia Eagles, as NFL insider Adam Schefter reports they have requested an interview with Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle for the same role. Doyle just completed his first season as the offensive coordinator for Chicago.
Could the Bears now lose their rising star offensive coordinator Declan Doyle?
There is a lot of appeal in Doyle being an offensive coordinator for other teams, as he comes from the Sean Payton coaching tree, as he worked under him with the New Orleans Saints and Denver Broncos. It helps that he has been under the tutelage of Bears head coach Ben Johnson.
The reason Doyle would leave for another offensive coordinator job, despite it being a lateral move, is that he would get a shot at calling the plays. He doesn't have that chance, since Johnson is the Bears' main play-caller.
This could be a situation with Johnson, and the Bears could consider blocking the request since it is a lateral move for Doyle. It doesn't seem like something Johnson would do to his coaches, especially since Doyle has a chance to be a play caller for the first time. Johnson spoke at his end-of-year press conference, where he was proud that the Bears' coaching staff was being looked at for jobs.
"I know we already have some slips coming through that other teams would like to interview some of our guys and I’m all for it, man. I want these guys to continue to ascend. Anything I can do to help them out, I think they all know I’m more than willing to do that."

Doyle could get more looks at offensive coordinator for other jobs and might even get some head coaching looks in the next year or so. The Bears know it's only a matter of time before they lose him to another team.
