What started out to be a simple business move to trademark some things for Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has turned into a news story that has blown up.

Williams filed for multiple trademarks, including his new "Iceman" nickname, but former NBA player George Gervin is fighting back, as that was his nickname back in his playing days. While talking to Front Office Sports, Williams discusses the "Iceman trademark for the first time since filing it, as he was honest about why he was doing it while also defending himself in not having prior knowledge of Gervin's nickname being the same.

"It's funny because I didn't know. My dad probably knows his nickname was that, but between me and George or anything like that, it's more or less people making clothing or people making things like that. And I can't control what people are making of me or anything like that and putting the name on it. So, it's just to control that aspect of it. That was the main reason of doing it."

It's understandable that Williams wouldn't be as big a fan of other people profiting off of his success by using his nickname and image. Williams more than earned the right to make sure he's getting money in his own pocket for the work he is doing.

During the same interview, Williams said he originally wasn't a big fan of the nickname his teammates gave him last season. It started to grow on him after a bit, since Chicago is a cold place multiple months out of the year.

The Bears quarterback also said he has not spoken with Gervin about it yet, but is open to a conversation. Williams just emphasized that he is doing this so he can control his image and anything connected to him.

Bears fans really hope this doesn't end up being blown out of proportion more than it already has, but this certainly is not the end of the story.
