Umm....okay then.

One of the big factors in the Chicago Bears' defense improving from last season is having Jaylon Johnson 100% healthy and in the lineup.

Johnson missed 10 games last season due to an injury, but did finish the season as the starter. It was clear that he was not all the way ready to be the two-time Pro Bowler he has been. While speaking to the media, Bears defensive backs coach Al Harris was asked about how Johnson looked early on and gave a fascinating response that will have Bears fans talking.

"Let's do this. We are going to talk about the guys that's just been out there," Harris said via CHGO's Adam Hoge. "To the respect of Jaylon and the organization, we're just going to talk about the guys that's been out there."

Al Harris hinted that Jaylon Johnson has not been with the Bears yet

Hoge thought it was worth noting that it is not completely out of character for Johnson to avoid the facilities until it is mandatory. Bears fans might not find comfort in that after the roller coaster ride that was the secondary last year.

It may not be the best look for Johnson to be away from the facility, as he is coming off an injury that cost him more than half the season. He needs to get the work in so he can be fully ready for the 2026 season.

There is probably more to the story than what is being said, or the fans could be overreacting to Johnson's absence. Even with that situation going on, Harris still expects Johnson to step up and play well.

"I have no doubt that, fully healthy or whatnot. We'll get what we need to see. I got no doubt about that at all.

Bears fans just care about Johnson being ready when he is needed the most, as he got a lot of pressure to bounce back from 2025.
