While the memories are still painful for Chicago Bears fans, no one in the Windy City can deny that the NFC Divisional Round matchup against the Los Angeles Rams was not an instant classic.
That game, of course, is well known for Bears quarterback Caleb Williams working his magic on fourth down and connecting with tight end Cole Kmet for an improbable touchdown with under 30 seconds left to force overtime. Williams would throw a critical interception in overtime, with the Rams walking it off with a game-winning field goal and ending the Bears' season.
Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford recently appeared on "Green Light with Chris Long," where they discussed the game and playing in the snow. Stafford gave credit to Williams for making his jump pass to hit Kmet.
“Every snow game is different," Stafford said. "They’re a lot of fun to play in except when you’re playing Caleb Williams, and he sprints back to the 50 and launches the NFL blitz jump throw for a touchdown. I was like ‘what the hell is this?’….with the ball in his hands, it’s as scary as anybody for sure. You don’t know what’s going to happen.”
Matthew Stafford calls Caleb Williams one of the scariest QBs in the NFL and talks about Caleb’s iconic touchdown pass vs the Rams:

Williams had a mixed bag of a game as he finished completing 23 of 42 passes for 257 yards and two touchdowns and three interceptions in the loss. While the turnovers were a lot, the Bears still would not have been in that game without Williams' heroics at the end of the fourth quarter.
Those were the type of throws Bears fans saw all year from Williams that made his potential skyrocket after the season. From his game-winning overtime touchdown throw to DJ Moore in Week 16 against the Green Bay Packers to the fourth and long completion to Rome Odunze in the win over the Packers in the NFC Wild Card Round, Williams' arm talent is just through the roof compared to other quarterbacks in the NFL.
Entering the 2026 season, MVP conversations have been getting louder with Williams as many think he will be in the top-five at the least. He's in Year 2 of the Ben Johnson era and appears to be getting more comfortable with the scheme, so that should lead to him being more accurate and putting up big numbers.

Williams is not only going to be gunning for franchise records in 2026, but a Super Bowl is realistically within reach because of his talent. Bears fans join Stafford in the amazement of how Williams plays the game.
