There have been growing rumors around whether the Chicago Bears are going to trade their center, Garrett Bradbury, after selecting Iowa center Logan Jones in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

The latest is that executives behind the scenes believe the Baltimore Ravens could be a landing spot for Bradbury if he is traded. While there have been no indications that a trade would happen, the Bears did something with Bradbury that could intensify those talks.

Spotrac's Michael Ginnitti shared contract news: Bradbury and the Bears have reworked his deal to guarantee $1 million in incentives. Bradbury is due to make $4.7 million with $3.7 million guaranteed.

What is the Bears' potential thinking with reworking Garrett Bradbury's contract?

It's interesting that they waited until now to do it, even though they traded for him from the New England Patriots earlier in the offseason. Bradbury was originally brought in to replace Chicago's Pro Bowl center, Drew Dalman, after Dalman shocked the NFL world with his retirement at age 27.

Jones's selection in the NFL Draft no doubt complicated the situation, especially since the Bears picked him so early in the draft. There's a clear indication that Jones is the future, but what does it mean for 2026?

A move like this from the Bears might try to make it easier on themselves to trade Bradbury if a good offer comes along. The team acquiring him would have to pay less if it's reworked, but the Bears have to make sure they get a good deal out of the process. Something as simple as a fourth- or fifth-round pick would be appropriate for them.

Another way to look at it is that the Bears are trying to work their salary cap situation, so they have more money to work with. They restructured two contracts during the draft to give them more flexibility, but the Bears have room to do more.

It's clear that a position battle in training camp is going to occur at center between Jones and Bradbury if no trade happens. If one does get agreed upon, Jones will be in the driver's seat to start Week 1.
