The Chicago Bears made a big trade, but it wasn’t the move fans were waiting for. While Chicago fans are hoping to get Maxx Crosby into a Bears uniform, the team traded veteran receiver D.J. Moore to the Buffalo Bills. The writing had been on the wall for a Moore trade, so it wasn’t surprising that he had been moved; it just wasn’t the exact news everyone was waiting for.
That news remains a Crosby trade that fans are trying to will into existence. Following the Moore trade, though, it seemed like Chicago lost a valuable piece that it could’ve included in a possible Crosby package, a productive veteran receiver. However, the full trade details revealed that the Bears received a second-round pick from the Bills, and that should keep Chicago alive in the Crosby sweepstakes.
DJ Moore trade could help Bears land Maxx Crosby
Since Crosby became a target for Chicago’s fans, it was accepted that Moore would likely be apart of the package to acquire the star defender. Again, it already seemed like his time with the Bears was coming to an end, and the Raiders really need wide receiver help. Exchanging Moore and Crosby, in addition to some picks, would’ve been a move that made sense for both sides.
Instead, Moore is headed to the Bills, and Chicago has an additional second-round selection. A second-round pick carries weight in trade discussions, so the Bears could package it with a first-round pick, or two, to convince Las Vegas to send them Crosby. Chicago could also still send the Raiders a veteran player; the point is that the franchise still has more than enough to get a deal done, even after trading away Moore.

Whether Chicago actually gets that deal done or not remains to be seen. There has been a lot of smoke coming out of Las Vegas, that indicates Crosby will eventually be traded. NFL teams know that, and several franchises would love to add him to their roster. That means Crosby’s next destination could be determined by a bidding war. If that’s the case, the Bears must be prepared to battle for him.
