Of the many offseason questions the Chicago Bears have, one of the top ones is regarding the status of wide receiver DJ Moore for the 2026 season.
There's been no secret that the production drop in Moore's numbers and his cap hit have the Bears talking about whether to trade him away. When talking about the new buzz around the success of the Chicago Bears during the offseason, NFL reporter Stacey Dales made an interesting comment to the crew at 104.3 The Score about Moore.
"I'm certain he (Moore) wants to stay a Chicago Bear."
DJ Moore wants to be a Bear in 2026
Moore has publicly stated over the last two months that he wants to stay in Chicago, as he believes in what the team is doing and wants to be part of the ride. The real question is whether the Bears feel the same way about him.
Back in 2023, Moore went for over 1,300 yards in his first season with the Bears after they traded for him that offseason. The Bears gave him a contract extension during the 2024 offseason, which might have been a curse, as his numbers dropped afterward. Last season, Moore only had 682 yards and six touchdowns; those yards were the lowest of his career.
The contract situation for Moore is not a great one for the Bears to be dealing with, as he has a $28.5 million cap hit in 2026. If the Bears were to move on from him via a trade before June 1, the team would save $16.5 million.

While Moore wants to stay in Chicago, the Bears may not feel the same way, not because of him as a person, but because of the financial situation. With the team already being deep at wide receiver and them needing an elite pass rusher badly, Moore might end up being the odd man out, even if he doesn't want to be.
